The German Research Center For Geosciences (GFZ) has developed in cooperation with the University of Potsdam the research parallel reactive transport simulator POET (POtsdam rEactive Transport). POET is a high-performance simulator which benefits from an efficient parallelization combined with Look-Ups in a Distributed Hash-Table which caches the results of geochemical sub-process simulations for reusein later iterations. POET is used as a proof-of-concept example within the project particularly to explore the replacement of costly equation-based geochemical solver with AI-surrogates.
